Dr. Douglas Shaw received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and received clinical and academic honors including election into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Shaw received his Certificate from NOVA Southeastern University, and was awarded a Masters of Science (M.S.) degree for his thesis on digital vs. analog cranial base cephalometric superimpositions. Dr. Shaw is also one of the few dentists in the world to have been extensively trained in "Digital Co-Diagnosis and is an active member in many dental associations including the American Association of Orthodontics (AAO).

Keller Invisalign

Rather than brackets and bands, the Keller Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move the teeth into alignment. This option is incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists making it the top alternative to traditional braces.

Invisalign aligners are made to fit snugly over the patient's teeth and are composed of a comfortable plastic material. The virtually invisible trays are usually switched out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series. This keeps the teeth moving in the desired direction! Aligners must be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment in order for them to do their job. Patients who neglect to wear the aligners as directed can have a negative impact on the results while also adding time to the orthodontic process.

Invisalign is effective when used to correct many of the most common orthodontic issues. For certain complex cases, Invisalign may not be a the best option. A free consultation with Shaw Orthodontics will be able to help determine your eligibility for Invisalign.

Keller Braces

Keller braces are an excellent choice for correcting a number of tooth issues, from simple to complex. Because they sometimes work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth than other options might, overall treatment time can be slightly reduced. In addition, braces don't require some of the more complicated technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can. This makes Keller braces a cost-effective orthodontic option for patients on a budget.

Traditional braces are one of the most efficient orthodontic tools we have. The metal or ceramic brackets are attached to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. Through regular adjustments with our doctors, these components work together to apply gentle pressure, which will gradually move the teeth into the desired positions.
